PRIVACY POLICY

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal data is collected, used, stored, and shared when you visit YamahaVintageFG.boards.net, YamahaVintageFG .com, or if you email YamahaVintageFG@gmail.com.

PERSONAL DATA I COLLECT

Anything you post in the forum or website is in the public domain.  By posting any data (your name, location, model numbers, serial numbers, etc.) you are allowing anyone with access to the forum or website to access this information.

I do not collect any other personal data, other than what you post or send me by email.  It’s possible Proboards (the host of the forum), Bluehost (host of the website), and WordPress (software that the website is written with) may collect other data, but I do not have access to that information (other than IP address), nor do I require it.

I do not collect credit card information.  If you buy a replacement part from me, it is done thru PayPal, and they are responsible for your personal data.

WHAT I DO WITH THE DATA

I maintain a spreadsheet of vintage Yamaha FG serial numbers, and other guitar data.  This data was either donated or found by doing Google searches of forums and websites.  I also have a spreadsheet to remember who I’ve talked to by email, recording the name, date contacted, email address, location (if provided), forum name (if they join the forum), and the Yamaha FG models, serial numbers and date codes they have.  This is for my personal use only and isn’t shared anywhere, other than possibly the serial number and date code information, but your name and email address only exist in my spreadsheet and will not be published anywhere else.

THIRD PARTY ACCESS

I do not share any data with any third party for marketing purposes.  The ads you see on the forum are put there by ProBoards.  I have no control over that.  That is how the free forum is paid for.  Since I pay for the website, there are no ads.

DATA SECURITY

I use Google Drive to backup my personal data, including the data collected for my Yamaha research, information collected from the YamahaVintageFG forum and the YamahaVintageFG.com website.  I also use the space provided for the website to host files (pictures and the Yamaha Guitar Archive), but no personal data will be hosted there.

DATA RETENTION

I will maintain the data as long as my interest in Yamaha FG acoustic guitars exists.  It is possible at the end of this time I may transfer the data to someone else to continue the forum, website or research.  This would be announced in the forum, website, and all email addresses I have will be notified.

YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS

Under data protection laws, you have rights in relation to your personal data that include the right to request access, correction, erasure, restriction, transfer, and to withdraw consent.

I may need to request specific information from you to help me confirm your identity and ensure your right to access your personal data (or to exercise any of your other rights).  This is a security measure to ensure that personal data is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it.  I may also contact you to ask you for further information in relation to your request to speed up my response.

I will try to respond to all legitimate requests within one month. Occasionally it may take longer than a month if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests. In this case, I will notify you.

If you are not happy with any aspect of how I collect and use your data, you have the right to complain to appropriate authorities.  Please contact me first if you do have a complaint so that I can try to resolve it for you.

CHANGES

I may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to my practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.
